Oh Yes Tastes Like Heaven (Snack Tub Korea #5)

Today we eat Hot Crab Chips (핫꽃게랑/hot-ggot-ge-rang) and Oh Yes (오예스). Crabs versus Chocolate. Spicy versus Sweet. Bring it on. My taste buds were born ready. Hopefully the crab chips aren't too spicy or else it's gonna be an adventure when it comes out of the other end. Watcha waiting for? Let's dive into Professor Oh's snack tub.

Spicy in a friendly manner, Hot Crab Chips is love at first crunch. Crispy yet fluffy, the experience is comparable to biting into a firm cloud. These crabbies are the perfect snack for roadtrips, lunch breaks, beach bums and you name it. Hot Crab Chips, you deserve 6 out of 5 kpop stars. The first Korean snack to surpass 5 kpop stars!

OH YES, we move onto our second snack. You see what I did there? Oh Yes comes from same family of Choco Pie and Ghana (eaten in episode 1).  Their blood is made of refined carbs and chocolate. It turns out Oh Yes is the yummiest of all its siblings. It's a legit 6 out of 5 kpop stars. Episode 5 is the most satisfying snack bath yet!

Time for some improv cooking. Using today's snacks we make ice cream.

Happy responsible snacking! Don't forget to eat your carrots and peas :)

Snacks that Look Like Intestines (Snack Tub Korea #4)

Today we eat Soybean Tofu Snack (소이빈 두부스낵) and Wellbin Tofu Snack (웰빈 두부과자). Both look like intestines, but do they taste like it? Only one way to find out: dive into Professor Oh's snack tub!

The Soybean Tofu Snack is mostly bland however becomes increasingly addicting with each succeeding bite. The minimal drops sprinkled black sesame seeds are all for show. If I were to develop this snack, I'd toss in an extra handful of toasted black sesame seeds for each bag. Then rename it as "Toasty Tofu Snack." Has a nice ring to it. Abbreviation: TTS. Why do those letters sound familiar? Oh yeah, TTS also stands for "TaeTiSeo," the cute sub-group of the wink-a-licious Girls' Generation.

Just like the previous bag of tofu crackers, the Wellbin Tofu Snack (WTS) contains a lot of air in it. WTS is thicker, slightly softer and also contains black sesame seeds. Both snacks taste like cardboard.

From a kid's perspective, both tofu snacks get 2 out of 5 kpop stars. From an adults set of taste buds, 4 out of 5 kpop stars.

Time for some improv cooking. This week we create Tofu Crouton Salad. Simple. Make a salad and toss in those crunchy pieces of cardboard!

Happy responsible snacking! Don't forget to eat your veggies before and after :)

Let It Rain: Choco Pie & Ghana (Snack Tub Korea #1)

Today we eat Choco Pie ( 초코파이) and Ghana (가나). They both look round and chocolatey. Which tastes more epic? Or are they same? Dive into Professor Oh's snack tub to find out!

Choco Pie is to the point. It's short for "Chocolate Pie." Ask if someone ate Ghana, they're going to think you're referring to the country. Maybe Ghana has amazing chocolate.

Choco Pie and Ghana taste like fraternal twins. Pretty much the same yet do have their subtle differences. The interior of Choco Pie is a creamy color while the Ghana is dark brown. Both have a horizontal white filling. When it comes to texture Ghana is slightly softer. And is decorated with swirly lines on the outside. Both pies are made by the same company: Lotte.

Conclusion?
Choco Pie: 5 out of 5 kpop stars
Ghana: 5 out of 5 kpop stars

Time for some improv cooking. Let's make Choco Pie and Ghana Popsicles! Watch at 7:03 for the basic recipe.
